Over-long, plotless and pointless with a highly improbable, corny drawn out story line. If I had been on my own I would have left an hour and a half earlier!! Overall the acting was mostly wooden with fluctuating accents from main characters. There was far too much atmospheric thunder and heay rain (its not like that in Yorkshire!) in outdoor and some indoor sequences. Predicatble story. Filled with groan inducing cinematic cliches too numerous to list and discuss here. The six star rating is for the authentic looking interior sets and excellent lighting . I sure that I will soon forget it. But some might like it.
Outstanding Film that invokes powerful memories
I’ve not read any Brontë Books but I am aware of the family from Thornton, Bradford. I visited Haworth so many times as a youngster and was aware of the famous girls I thought their books were just about fancy love stories. Teachers would ram their importance down our throats, i reall wasn’t bothered.
My own life has been emotional and I too have questioned the church, the people that have come into it and even my own soul. I saw the trailer for this film and i thought it looked great. Something resonated with me strongly in the Emily character.
I saw the film and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s outstanding in the sense that you connect with every character and how familiar their roles are to us all in our own lives. The roles we have seen others play and even the roles we have played.
The acting is unreal, there isn’t a bad performance from anyone. The scene with the mask is one of the best scenes i’ve seen in a film.
At the end, our audience were left spellbound and there was a sombre mood. First time i’ve seen the whole audience stop at watch the credits, sinking in all that had just happened.
I am now going to go read the books, because o have seen a glimpse of the real Brontë Sisters and their imagination is similar to mine. I wish i had paid more attention in English Literature classes at school more .
I loved this film and i’m not usually into period dramas, but as a fellow Bradfordian, I could not be more proud of our girls and the cast and crew who did them proud.
An outstanding film that will open many buried memories of your own mind, heart and soul.
