This is a rather pedestrian film about life along the Po river valley. But if one looks at the shots, he will see that this is a cut above. Michelangelo Antonioni is the director and is already showing us the beauty of his work. We are introduced to all the citizens of the riverbank, with their charming daily lives.

Beautiful photography, a real classic
I’ve seen this movie some years ago, and I remember that it had the most beautiful photography. Antonioni chose to film real-life persons, instead of casting professional actors. Documentary-like, but still fictional, it tells the story not only of the people, but also of the River Po, in Italy.
