Sean Penn wrote and directed this stunning lesson in great filmmaking. David Morse is a cop in a small town and his brother, played by the underrated Viggo Mortensen, is a Vietnam vet with major anger issues. In and out of prison, Morse repeatedly rescues his prodigal sibling. The two leads are magnificent and Penn’s script deep and thought provoking. This is a must see movie.
