All he has to do is steal a strongbox full of money the banker lent to Mr. Parody Jones (Strother Martin) who needs it to keep his mining operation going. If he defaults on the loan, our “friendly” banker takes over the mine. Ms. Charming Jones (Ann-Margret) comes to town to collect the money and take it back to her father, Parody. To ensure the money makes it back home, Parody has called in a favor from a man who owes him a life debt. Enter Handsome Stranger (Arnold Schwarzenegger). The toughest and strongest hero in the west. As tough as a steel plate but, unfortunately, just as dense. As Charming and Handsome set off on their journey, Jack sets out after them. Using his trusty “Bad Men Of The West” handbook, Jack sets one trap after another only to have each one go awry in true Wile E. Coyote versus The Roadrunner fashion. Plot: Handsome Stranger has agreed to escort Charming Jones to collect her inheritance from her father. But Avery Jones wants the money, and hires notorious outlaw Cactus Jack to ambush Charming. However, Cactus Jack is not very good at robbing people.

An expensive mistake!
Kirk Douglas was never funny, Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn’t be funny even unwillingly, still Kirk Douglas’horse, Whisky, is a bit funny. Monument Valley is stunning and so is Ann-Margret, and I’d give the film 2 just for the sake of that, but the total is so embarrassing to watch that it just won’t do. This is one of the least funny comedies with a quite big budget ever made. It’s an expensive mistake. I tried for some time but ended up winding through just to watch a bit more of Ann-Margret. When screenwriters,directors and actors who are not funny and amusing try to be, it never is funny or amusing. It’s just annoying. I’d rather watch Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies for the rest of my time on this earth than to see this movie all the way through. It really is painful to see good money and talent wasted on something like this, and it would have been better just to help some poor people or perhaps cancel the whole project in the beginning, make real western with a good plot, with the same crew, and Schwarzenegger as the bad guy. That might just have been a success.
