Wow…it really was THAT bad…

I caught this at 1 or 2am on the SciFi Channel(yes, I know they changed the spelling of their name a few years back but I refuse to acknowledge it:)…first off let me say that I am a huge zombie/horror movie fan and will watch almost anything(I have sat thru some real dogs in my day), but this movie was just plain awful…the plot, most of the acting,the effects, and the pacing were just absolutely terrible. I try to never be one of those people that says “Oh I can’t believe he/she was in THAT!” because I realize acting is still a job and helps pay the bills, but I would’ve been hesitant to take this job:P I was frankly surprised to see 4 pretty well-known actors in this once I started to realize how bad a script/movie it was…just DO NOT waste your time with this bc you will be very, very disappointed in the quality(and that’s coming from someone who enjoys a good “B- movie”).

The acting is bad but it’s so bad in a way that it’s actually not possible for it to be the actors’ faults (or at least not their fault alone). To get this sort of product across the only possible answer is either a complete lack of direction, or just very very bad directions, of a very sparse script, editted together in the most uncomfortable style possible. It’s the only way you can get these sorts of performances across.

Why does this movie even exist?
Despite having a promising second string all star cast (they really must have needed the paychecks.) this movie is a steaming pile of plotless garbage. I was hoping it would be one of those “it’s so bad it’s good” zombie flicks, but it managed to be even worse than that. I wish I could say it’s your typical, predictable zombie movies, but that would be an insult to all the typical, predictable zombie movies. The characters are the absolute worst, and the writing is so bad it’s not even laughable. The only thing that could have saved this mess is if the Shirley Jones zombie had more screen time and managed to kill everyone else. The End.

Horrific
Getting out of a traffic jam caused by a grisly accident, wealthy Anthony Michael Hall (as Patrick Jackson) stops his car near a graveyard. Attractive daughter Rachel G. Fox (as Tracie) squeals, “Ewwwe!” The plot is simple. Intending to duplicate their numbers, recently dead people get up in a global “Zombie Night”. Later, we later learn that living people who make it through the night will survive. This TV movie has zero story structure and near-zero character development. While director John Gulager and his crew show some level of filmmaking competency, it doesn’t add up to anything. The characters come on screen and die, or not die. You have no reason to care what happens. Those who staged the gore might have careers worth saving. Others need should seek better work or alternate careers. The most recognizable credit may be Shirley Jones, who plays an annoying old lady. Her hair looks nice. In fact, everyone’s hair looks good…
