Watch: Prairie Love 2011 123movies, Full Movie Online – A lone wolf drifter is traveling through the desolate North Dakota prairie during a harsh winter in his beat up station wagon towing an equally beat up trailer which probably contains all his worldly possessions. His only companion is a series of self-help cassette tapes, one which describes the path to romantic love. He comes across a deserted broken down pickup truck, and further down the road the almost frozen dead body of its driver, Nathaniel Shoemaker, who he saves from dying. In their travels, the drifter learns directly from Nathan and through very descriptive letters of Nathan’s that the drifter reads while Nathan is unconscious that Nathan is going to pick up his pen-pal girlfriend from prison, she who has given him the nickname NoDak. They have been corresponding for three years, during which time they have fallen in love despite not knowing what the other looks like. Largely due to his isolation and because of the cassette tapes which he has memorized, the drifter believes that he is better suited and more deserving of the girl than NoDak. The drifter makes it his mission to take NoDak’s place in picking up the girl and ending his isolation as per what he’s learned from the tapes. Their eventual encounter will show if theirs will indeed be a match made in self-help tape heaven..
Plot: As a mysterious high plains drifter travels across the wintry North Dakota prairie, he finds a man lying unconscious in the middle of the road and stops to lend a hand. After defrosting, the man explains that he’s on his way to meet his pen-pal girlfriend for the first time, as she’s being released from prison. Desperate for a girlfriend of his own, the drifter sees this as an opportunity to change his lonely existence, and hatches a plan to steal his new companion’s identity, forever changing the destinies of all three people.

If You Like This Genre, You’ll Love “Prairie Love”
“Prairie Love” is just the kind of movie I relish; the characters are the story, nothing was predictable, and the setting was so prominent that it was basically another character in the film.

As for camera work, the shots and angles matched the scenes beautifully. There was also this cool steampunk feel to the machinery. I’m not going to go into the story because I don’t want to spoil a thing. I had no clue what it was about when I began. That turned out to be a big plus — I was delighted at every turn.

Great editing and photography helped keep things riveting. Notice the askew angle of the snowline after “the act.” You will know what I mean when you see it.

I’d have liked more backstory on “The Girl” to know why she was in trouble. We get a hint of that when she says hello and goodbye to parts of a dear, but we never really do know where she is coming from the way we do the others.

But, still, that’s okay. We sure know who she is later on.

If you like Coen brothers-type pacing, getting to know characters and giving them time to reveal, and you have the patience to watch stories unfold, I couldn’t recommend “Prairie Love” more highly.

Truly Bizarre and Strange Indie
Usually I am a big fan of this type of bizarre and strange noir. However, although the film had merit in its’ very dark and understated humor it never truly grabbed me. Perhaps the pacing which could be excruciatingly plodding at times plus some scenes which were difficult to watch outweighed the positives.

The film stars Jeremy Clark and Holly Lynn Ellis. Clark is a drifter driving the frozen tundras of North Dakota in his near broken down station wagon and trailer. He comes upon a man(Garth Blomberg) by the side of the road who is nearly frozen to death. Clark takes him into the truck and while the man is “de-frosting” Clark rifles through his belongings and wallet.

Aside from his identity Clark finds a series of letters that a woman in prison had written to Blomberg and realizes that Blomberg was on his way to pick up the woman, who is about to be released.

Clark is so socially awkward that he relies on relationship self-help tapes that he plays over and over again in his car and memorizes. You can quickly see that he sees this as an opportunity to meet this woman in prison. When Blomberg comes to, Clark determines that his passenger and the woman have never seen each other. Blomberg suspects something is up and a struggle ensues and he eventually runs out into the frozen tundra again pursued by Clark. Not to write a major spoiler here–let’s just say Clark proceeds onto the prison to meet the woman(Ellis).

Ellis turns out to be as bizarre as he is and their subsequent adventures can be dryly and darkly humorous but also pathetically sad at the same time.

The writer and director of the film is Dusty Bias and I believe this is his first major film. I believe he has potential and I would like to see his next movie.

Obviously not for everyone, but for those that relish this type of noir there could be some merit.
