Better than expected
I don’t know why I didn’t expect much from this, maybe been disappointed too much recently, but it is an extremely well done film, that pulls you in and gets you interested from the start.
The performances were powerful, the calibre of the acting outstanding.
A poignant film for the times, especially with everything going on at the moment in regards to race.
Well worth the watch.
Sure the writing was not the best, and the acting was probably affordable for a tight budget. That said Black Rebellion films are a new genre and for this reason it’s a great effort. It’s already been said, the content is difficult to see, but how long has the black audience watched slave beatings?
The production looking a bit independent is fine, but my issue is this certain rebellion. We can assume it was chosen due to the fact it may appeal to polarize the right to rebel in the midst of terrorism. . It seems to follow a trend I’m seeing which sensationalizes black male frustration, leaving out the more intelligent resourceful characters. Characters who have become well recognized in white culture historical films. The great looking charismatic guy who gets the girl and win. They’ve made it up so let’s make movies too.
It’s a trend to imply subtly that black men who are inclined to fight with each other don’t know how to unite and therefore unworthy. If this is what it takes to please the general market audience, then I accept the price must be paid. But we all know there are plenty of unquestionable Black Hero stories waiting to be told.
