Aims at Bourne, fails miserably
THE CODE OF CAIN desperately wants to be a slick and gritty international action thriller along the lines of the BOURNE trilogy but in reality it’s completely unlike those films. For starters, it has no action scenes and is quite dull as a result, lacking the suspense and momentum that all decent thrillers need in order to keep the viewer interested. This film was shot in Belarus with an unknown cast and a cameo from Eric Roberts at the end which is nothing to get excited about. The direction is static, the budget is very low, and the lead actress is a teensy bit dull. Sure, there are lots of different locations, but when the film is so devoid of energy none of that really matters.
